Concert & Celebration - Flying Karamazov Brothers

The Huntsman World Senior Games is pleased to announce the Flying Karamazov Brothers will be the featured entertainment for this year’s Concert & Celebration.  The show will be in the Burns Arena, Dixie State College, on October 13, 2009 and starts at 7:00 pm.  Athletes with an ID badge get in free along with one guest.

“We’re very excited for this act to be a part of the Games,” said Kyle M Case, Games CEO.  “These guys will put on an amazing show.  It’s not one our athletes will want to miss.”

The Flying Karamazov Brothers consider themselves a continuing experiment in comedy, theatre, music and, of course, juggling. From the beginning their intention has been to blend the worlds of performance art, improvisation, word play, harmony, emotion and above all virtuosity into a unique form of theatre and entertainment.

And they do mean to entertain. Taking the cue from Shakespeare, they bring art and accessible entertainment to the stage. They consider comedy as their bread and butter and they layer it on so that children of 2 or 92 will laugh at the same moment for very different reasons.

Each of the Brothers brings his area of expertise to the enterprise. Mark Ettinger (Alexei) is the resident musician, composer and conductor. Rod Kimball (Pavel) is the master juggler. Paul Magid (Dmitri) is the writer, director, and founder. Nick Flint (Maximov) is the media savant.  Stephen Bent (Zossima) is exceptionally tall.

The Brothers claim they play at the edge of their ability but to a purpose. Their main contention is that errors make them human but by working together they approach the divine. For them, they claim juggling is dropping.

They don’t intend to stand still.  They say they continue to grow and learn. Their intention is expand the horizons of comedy and entertainment. Each show they perform explores the idea of what a live audience is as they continue to find new ways to astonish by air, by laughs and by scene.

The Brothers have performed all over the world from Italy, to China and appeared in movies and television including Seinfeld and the Tonight Show.
